Wilson Chavis, age 70, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday, September 01, 2012. He was born on April 4, 1942 in Robeson County to the late Sam Chavis and the late Audie Hunt Chavis. He formerly worked in construction, specializing in drywall.

Mr. Chavis is survived by his wife, Mary Hunt Chavis, of the home; two sons, Craig Chavis and wife, Dora Lee, of Rowland and Brian Chavis, of the home; one daughter, Amy Lowery and husband, Cale, of Fairmont; two brothers, Willard Chavis, of Shannon, and Jerry Chavis, of Fairmont; five sisters, Marvie Sampson, of Trinity, Lou Anna Chavis, of Archdale, Deloris Magnum, of Pembroke, Sharma Carter and Regina Hardin, both of Fairmont; and two grandchildren, Caitlin Chavis, of Georgia, and Cale Tacoby Lowery, of Fairmont.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Fairmont.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church, Fairmont, with Rev. Hilton Woodell and Rev. Chester Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
