Obituary

Willie Franklin Carter, 82, of Orrum, NC, died Thursday, October 6, 2022, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Lumberton, NC at the old Baker Hospital on November 8, 1939.

He was a very hard worker his whole life. Starting out as a farmer, he soon went to work as a mason's helper at the age of 12 and later became a brick mason at the age of 14. He worked at other jobs such as a worker on a shrimp boat and baking bread at the Holsum Bread Company. His love of building always lead him back to brick work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Cleo Wilson Carter; five brothers: Earl Carter, Harold Carter, Nathaniel Carter, Lacy Carter, and Cass Carter; two sisters, Linda Sharon Coe and Dolly Carter; and his daughter, Anita Gwyn Carter.

He is survived by his sons: Willie "Charlie Carter" Taylor (Carol) and Luther "Tater" Carter (Amanda); his daughters, Wanda Britt (Morris) and Wendy Knight (William "Jr."); 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Carter and Gary Carter; and a sister, Shirley Marcinsky.

Per his request, there will be no funeral at this time. However, there will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony held within the upcoming month, which will be posted on Facebook and spread by word of mouth.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed and sent condolences to the family. And a special thank you to my SEATS family for sending care items and calling or texting and my church family, Orrum Baptist Church, for all you have done.
