William Charles Tedder, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. William Charles Tedder, Sr.,age 84 of Fairmont died at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC, on May 6, 2012.
He was born in Hoke County on January 10, 1928, oldest child of Clarence Lee Tedder, Sr. and Margaret Belle Mitchell Tedder.
He was predeceased by his parents, and two and John C. Tedder. He is survived by three brothers, Randall Tedder of Fairmont, Donald Tedder and wife Faye of Clemmons, CL. Tedder, Jr.and wife Bobbie of Holly Springs; one sister, Audrey Delong of Aberdeen, one sister-in-law, brother-in-law, Dr. J.C. Humphrey of Lumberton.He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Catherine Humphrey Tedder of the home; one son, William Charles Tedder, Jr., of Nashville, Tenn., three daughters,Lynn Tedder Algier (Gill) of Mooresville, Myra Tedder Rega (Jerry) of Las Vegas Nevada, and Charla Tedder Parker of Fuquay-Varina, two granddaughters, Kristin Bullard of Austin, Texas and Katie Bullard of Aiken, SC.
Charles was a member of Fairmont First Baptist Church for many years where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and R.A. leader. He was a faithful and dedicated Christian gentleman, admired by all. He was a member of Fairmont Rotary Club where he served as president,
vice-president, and secetary. He was a 1945 graduate of Fairmont High School, and finished at Elon College, where he was a member of the
Iota Tau Kappa Fraternity. He served during the Korean War, in the U.S. Signal Corps, in Seoul, Korea. After his military services he returned to Fairmont and was employed by the Robeson County School System for the majority of his working career.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 3pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jesse Yarbrough officiating.
Burial will follow in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont from 7-9 pm and other times at the home, 701 South Walnut St.
