William "Nathan" Whitt, 46, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on May 14, 2024.

Nathan was predeceased by his parents, William Herbert Whitt and Susan Foster Whitt; grandparents, Samuel Gleaves Foster Jr. and Margie Waverly Strong Foster, John Herbert Whitt and Olive Page Whitt; an uncle, Paul Thomas Foster; and aunt, Sarah Whitt.

He is survived by uncles, Stephen Max Whitt and wife Betsy, and Gordon Michael Whitt; aunt, Deborah Whitt Morris and husband Mike; and many cousins.

Nathan graduated University of Texas in Austin with B.S. Degree in Library Sciences and University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a Master's Degree in Library Sciences.  Nathan was employed with the Cumberland County Library System from 2010 to 2024 and served as Adult Services II staff member and served as a lead person in the IT Services department.  Nathan was instrumental in updating the technology within the County Library System. Nathan was dearly loved by his colleagues.  He also loved sports he could recite statistics about athletes from just about any sport you wanted to talk about.  He was a kind gentle person who truly loved helping others.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton NC. The memorial service will also honor Nathan's mother, Susan Foster Whitt, who recently passed away earlier this year. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
