William "Bill" Franklin Brooks, Sr., age 82, of Lumberton, NC died at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.  He was born in Richmond County on August 2, 1933 to the late John Bunyan Brooks and the late Hattie T. Morgan.  He was the owner operator of Brooks Carpet.  He loved fishing and gardening, a farmer at heart.  He dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, J.B. Brooks and Marshall Brooks; sisters, Gladys White, Josephine Ratliff, and Sue McRae.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betsy Rowell Brooks of the home; son, William Brooks, Jr. (Meri) of Morganton; daughters, Judy Brooks Adams (Mike) of Lumberton and Emily Brooks Gardner (Gordon) of Williamston; sisters, Lois Lowery of Springfield, VA, Peggy Currie of Wilmington and Patsy White of Lumberton; and four grandchildren, Andy Brooks, Mason Brooks, Brooks Adams, and Sandi Adams.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
