Mr. William Peter Bernicki, Jr., age 68, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, November 08, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 23, 1942. He previously worked as a Superintendent for Bernicki Electrical Service, that later became Southeastern Mechanical. He was a Veteran of the US Navy.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Raymond Neil Smith, Jr.; his mother, Rosa Lee Baxley Smith; his brother, Bobby Smith and his step-brother, Donald West.

Mr. Bernicki is survived by two sons, William Patrick Bernicki and wife, Jeanie and Timothy Wayne Bernicki and wife, Leigh Anne, all of Lumberton; two daughters, Angela Marie Bernicki and husband, Joel Johnson and Sherry Bernicki Chavis and husband, Kevin, all of Lumberton; one sister, Genevieve Smith of Bolivia, NC; a niece, Rose Mary Ward and husband, David of Tolarsville, NC; seven grandchildren, Angela Lewis, Michael H. Lewis II, Patrick Wayne Bernicki, Christopher Lee Bernicki, Devyn Chavis, Cameron Chavis and Timothy Jacob Bernicki and two great-grandchildren, Malachi and Brian.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday evening from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Rev. James Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
