William Alfred Martin, 72, of 140 Susan Drive, Garner, NC died at his home on Wednesday, May 20, 2009. He was born on December 16, 1936 to Worth B. Martin and Beulah Kinlaw. Mr. Martin was a postal clerk for the United States Postal system.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Katie Powell Martin.

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Hicks and her husband, Keith of Wilmington, NC, Sharon Haggins and husband Douglas of Garner, NC and Karen Speights and her husband, Randy of Sylva, NC; one sister, Mary Jones of Newport News, VA; and three grandchildren, Christopher Hicks, Dillon Haggins and Amanda Stephens.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, NC with the Reverend David G. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.

The family will receive visitors prior to the service at 1:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.
