Wilbert Oxendine, 81, of Lumberton, NC died on June 15, 2009 at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC. He was born on May 29, 1928 to Martin and Addie Oxendine in Robeson County, NC. Mr. Oxendine worked in the packaging department in textile manufacturing.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Hunt Oxendine of the home; one son, Randy Jones of Lumberton, NC; seven daughters, Addie Lee Hunt of Pembroke, NC, Carolyn Locklear, Betty Jean Deese, Patricia Kay Hunt and Wilma Lee Oxendine all of Lumberton, NC, Annie Ruth Hunt and Doris Ann Jones of Fairmont, NC; two brothers, Carson Oxendine and Freeman Oxendine both of Faimont, NC; one sister, Mary Lee Oxendine of Fairmont, NC; twenty-nine grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 4:00 PM at the Pleaseant View Baptist Church with the Reverends Ricky Burnett, Ronald Scott and Tony officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church and other times at the home.
