Wesley Duval
Sanderson
Jul 5, 1951 — Jan 18, 2025
Lumberton
Wesley Duval Sanderson, 73, of Lumberton, died on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in UNC Southeastern Hospital in Lumberton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Solomon "S.D." and Dorothy Watts Sanderson.
He is survived by his wife Linda; a step-son, Brian Shuping and his wife Theresa of Boiling Springs, NC; four grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Dylan and Nathan; four great grandchildren, Bryson, Connor, Garrett and Karli; an aunt, Edith Watts of Lumberton; a cousin, Dana Todd and her husband Russ of Leesburg, VA.; and a cousin Mary Aiken of Virginia.
Wesley lived a rich and varied life experience. He was always close to the farming community of Robeson County. At the request of his father S.D., he developed the Village at River Run subdivision in the year 2000, which continues to grow and flourish to the present. He retired with over 30 years of service from the Cape Fear Farm Credit Bank. After his career in banking, he began a second career in antiques, as the owner and operator of the Riverside Antiques store on W 4th Street in Lumberton. The antique store was always a hub of many different activities. In addition to selling antiques, Wesley and his wife also taught adult high school education classes out of the back of the store. And not least of all, the Riverside Antiques Store served as their cat rescue center, which was a passion that Wesley, Linda, and all the high school students embraced since the year 2000. He will be loved and cherished by all that knew him.
