Virginia Ernestine Ward, age 84, of Lumberton, NC passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 24, 2016.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on April 26, 1931 to the late Robert Lee and Roberta Barnes Stallings.  She previously worked as a seamstress for Gerber Children's Wear.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred Stallings and Gene Stallings; and one sister, Daphene Hickman.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband of 65 years, Don L. Ward of the home; a son, Don Ward, Jr. (Jessica) of Franklin;  daughters, Lynn Rice (Bill) and Joan Hornbuckle (Freddie) all of Lumberton; brothers, Waldo Stallings of Lumberton, Eldon Stallings of Lumberton, Frank Stallings of Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert Stallings of Carolina Beach, Norman Stallings of Killeen, TX, and Wendy Stallings of Red Springs; a sister, Ann Lamb of Lumberton; six grandchildren, Gini Dalton, Megan Hammonds, Jamie Rice, Chelsi Ward, Don Smith, and Christopher Ward; and special caregiver, Cheryll Vernon.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at East Lumberton Church of God with Pastor Bruce Brumfield and Rev. Jamie Lewter officiating. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
