Virginia Dare Phillips, age 85, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at her home. She was born on August 5, 1933, in Robeson County to the late Richmond Waddell and the late Marjorie West Waddell.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Phillips, and two brothers, David and Johnny Waddell.

She is survived by four sons: Donald T. Phillips (Susan) of Lumberton, Lloyd R. Phillips (Paula) of Adamstown, MD, Ricky K. Phillips of Lumberton, and Timothy E. Phillips (Robin D.) of Lumberton; two daughters: Patricia Smith (Frank) and Sylvia J. Barfield (Stevie), all of Lumberton; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; five brothers: Wilbur Waddell, Hubert Waddell, Jimmy Waddell (Martha), Mack Waddell (Donna), and Tommy Waddell (Kathy), all of Lumberton; and four sisters: Elizabeth Britt of Hope Mills and Myrtle Norton, Linda Faye Loyd, and Jean Bozeman (Kirby), all of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday, December 28, 2018, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Pastor Mark Meadows and Pastor Keith Eggert officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.

The family will also be receiving friends at other times at Mrs. Virginia's home.
