Virginia Charvat Barnes, age 86, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. She was born in Omaha, NE on October 30, 1927 to the late Ruby and Emma Hayes Welch. She was a truck driver for Tri-State Transport. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Barnes, and a granddaughter, Chandy. Mrs. Barnes is survived by a son, Kenneth Barnes and wife, Peggy of Spanish Fort, AL; daughters, Luana Phillips and husband, Jim of Fayetteville, and Theresa "Terry" Barnes of Lumberton; grandchildren, Rick Phillips, David Delaney, Ashleigh Deese, Amber Barnes, and Kenny Barnes; and great-grandchildren, Nathan and Peyton. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rodney Evers officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
