Vernon R. Locklear, 81, of Fairmont died Monday, May 31, 2010 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Mac Locklear and Lillie Locklear; his wife, Bernice Hunt Locklear; one grandson, Jammie Locklear; two sisters, Rev. Geneva Locklear and Gertrude Locklear; and three brothers, James Locklear, Dannie Locklear and Daniel Mac Locklear, Jr.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 4, 2010 at 4:00 PM at McDonald Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Timmy Hunt, B.J. Hunt, Ricky Burnett and Bruce Ransom officiating. Burial will be in McDonald Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his son, James Lindell Locklear and wife, Barbara of Florida; daughters, Bernette David and husband, Timothy, Dianne Cummings, Barbara Williamson and husbnad, Larry, Flora Minor and husband, Marc, Genive Cummings and husband, Bobby all of Lumberton.\\\\, Verna Rese Hunt an husband, Ronald, Bessie ??Nuddie? Holmes and husband, Colonel all of Fairmont; one sister, Elenor of Pembroke; one brother, Welton Locklear of Pembroke; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a host other family and friends.

The family would like to thank Southeastern Hospice of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 until 9:00 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton.
