Velma Smith Hunt, age, 92, of Fairmont, NC went home to be with the Lord on the morning of April 4, 2023 at McLeod of Dillon, SC. She was born February 17, 1931 in Robeson County to the late Alex Smith and the late Annie Bell Oxendine.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Hunt; three sons, Stanley Hunt, Steve Allen Hunt, and Darrell Wayne Hunt; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Hunt; an aunt, Maggie Bell Hunt.

Ms. Velma worked many years in the health field taking care of her disabled son and many others. She was a life long member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she was the director of the Young Adult Choir, WMU Member, a member of the adult lady's class. She also did home ministry with shut-ins and nursing homes throughout the county. Ms. Velma was very devoted to her family and she truly loved the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Alex Ray Hunt and wife Alicia of Clermont, Fla., and Ronnie Hunt of Lexington, NC; one daughter, Connie Mae Hunt of the home; four grandchildren, Shawana Hunt Dale (Alex) of Hollister, NC, Kevin Ray Hunt (Stephanie Yountz) of Lexington, NC, Cedrick Hunt (Tina Diaz) of Homosassa, Fla., and  Devontro Tacoma Hunt of Fayetteville, NC;  an adopted  daughter, Michelle  Woodell; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hunt of Homosassa, Fla., six great-grandchildren; special cousins, Hattie Rose Lewis, Mary Davenport, Eunice Hunt,and Donnie Lee Hunt all of Fairmont, NC; a special  friend,  Denise  L. Hunt; o ther extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 6-9 PM at Floyd Funeral Services 1549 Marion Stage Rd. Fairmont, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 9, 2023 at 2 PM at Pleasant View Baptist Church 198 Pleasant View Church Rd. Fairmont, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
