Mrs. Veila Thorndyke Nye, 74, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. she was born in Robeson County, NC on April 1, 1947 to the late Joseph Forman Thorndyke and the late Vivian Lamb Thorndyke.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Nye; four brothers: J.F. Thorndyke, Ed Thorndyke, John Knox Thorndyke, and George Wade Thorndyke; and four sisters: Madeline T. Young, Sybil T. Hedgepeth, Eugenia Thorndyke, and Shelia Thorndyke.

She is survived by two sons, Darrell G. Musselwhite II (Melissa) of Lumberton, NC and Anthony W. Musselwhite (Debbie) of Lumberton, NC; a daughter, Mariah N. Hazen (Matthew) of Fayetteville, NC; 7 grandchildren: Adam Musselwhite, Ashlynn Martin, Matthew Musselwhite, Joey Musselwhite, Heaven Miller, Russel Hazen, and Noah Hazen; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Luke M. Thorndyke of Proctorville, NC; and two sisters, Kellen T. Byrd and Elizabeth T. Nye, both of Lumberton, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Sandy Saunders officiating.
