Valdoston Strickland, age 66, was born on September 4, 1954 to the late Oswell Ivey and Almeaner S. Hunt. He transitioned to eternal peace on April 18, 2021,

Throughout Val's life, he worked on many farms and volunteered on the Fairmont Fire Department for years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Osrow Ivey and Charlie Ray Hunt; one sister, Irene Hunt.

He leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Delaine Strickland; five brothers, Jackie Strickland (Darlene), Mitchell Ivey, and Vernon Ivey all of Fairmont, Jimmy Porter of Lumberton, Bobby Johnson of SC; one sister-in-law, Annette Oxendine Hunt; three special people who were like his children, Ashley, Courtney, and Cameron Hunt. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, his two dogs which were his best friends, "Smut" and "Red", and his chickens that he loved.

A walkthrough will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 10AM-2PM at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.

A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 3PM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairmont with Revs. Michael Cromartie, Ricky Burnette, and Johnny Hyatt officiating.
