Tommy Jernigan, age 80, of St. Pauls, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at his home. He was born in Robeson County on August 3, 1931 to the late William Thomas Jernigan and the late Nettie Strickland Jernigan. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Army and Air Force. He was previously employed as a textile machinist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary N. Jernigan and his son, Charles Lloyd Jernigan.

Mr. Jernigan is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Jernigan, of Lumberton and Jeff Jernigan of Fayetteville; two daughters, Mary Elaine Jernigan and Marilyn J. McNeill, both of St. Pauls; a brother, Paul Jernigan, also of St. Pauls; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, Lumberton. Burial will take place after the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery, St. Pauls.
