Mr. Tilman Eugene "Sonny" Cox, age 74, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Robeson County on October 22, 1940 to the late Tilman and Hilda Connor Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Boyd Cox and two sisters, Ruby Lee Sealey and Faye Moody. He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Margaret Richardson Cox, of the home; two sons, Gary Wayne Cox (Nannette) and Timmy Cox (Lisa), all of Lumberton; one daughter, Regina Branch (Howard) of Orrum; three brothers, Bobby Cox (Melba), Dickie Cox (Christine) and Tommy Cox (Penny), all of Lumberton; three sisters, Annie Rose Bowen of Evergreen, Myrtle Rae Townsend (Horace) of Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor of Tarheel; nine grandchildren, Shannon Holmes (Steven), Gary "Jabo" Cox, Jr. (Melissa), Jeromy Branch (Tracey), Misty Cox, Zach Cox (Kristen), Joel Cox (Samantha), Brittany Branch (Dereck), Josh Cox (Daphne), and Magan McDaniel (Matt), and nine great-grandchildren, Seth, Kallie, Paityn E., Paityn B., Dalton, Luke, Bryleigh, Levi, and Layce. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 7:00-9:00PM at Mt. Elim Baptist Church, 645 N. Creek Road, Orrum. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 2:00PM at Mt. Elim Baptist Church with Rev. James Graham and Rev. Jeff Broadwell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.
