Thelma Sloop Sechriest, age 102, of Lumberton, NC died on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Wesley Pines Retirement Center in Lumberton.  She was born in Iredell County, NC on August 14, 1915 to the late Walter Allison Sloop and the late Nancy Estelle Sherrill Sloop.  She and her husband Carl owned and operated Sechriest Jewelers in Lumberton for many years.  She was a charter member of Godwin Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Lady Lions where she held many positions.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Vernon Sechriest; a daughter, Deborah Sechriest Sillers; son-in-law, Fredrick Luke Musselwhite;  a brother, Oliver Sloop; and a sister, Annie Creason.

Mrs. Sechriest is survived by a daughter, Shelva Sechriest Musselwhite of Lumberton; grandchildren, Norris Musselwhite Grantham (Lee) of Lumberton, Rick Musselwhite of Lumberton, Lou Rising of Lumberton, and Brent Rising (Melondy) of Charlotte; and great-grandchildren, Mac, John, Sydney, Tristen, Katlyn, and Nathan.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Godwin Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Wilcox and Rev. David Hawes officiating.  A time for visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church.
