Miss Texxie Lee Godwin Stephens departed this life February 16, 2025 at Life Care Hospice in Wilmington, NC. She was known as Mama, Aunt Texxie, grandma, sister, friend, and Miss Texxie. Miss Texxie was born on August 19, 1939 to the late Quin and Carrie Godwin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Robert Stephens, six brothers, and five sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Buddy Stephens (Deanna) and Tommy Stephens (Larissa); three daughters, Carrie Dawson, Marcie Burns, and Anna Rasmussen, all of Lumberton; a sister, Betty Sue Buchanan (Wiley) of Griffin, GA.; grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, Lee, Heather, Jennifer, Bailey, Emory, Alexis and Harley; and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Evan, Carleigh, Andrew, Kenlee, Kendall, Scarlett, Harless, Leonni, Neal and Averlee. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to give special recognition to Starlet Rowland, Becky Stone, Tiffany Riley and the late Miss Audrey Barns. These ladies gave our mother the very best care and loved her as if she was their own mother. We are forever grateful to them. We thank Glen Flora where she was in and out of rehab over the years and became the house celebrity.

The visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
