Teresa Rush Smith, 74, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Teresa was born on April 16, 1950, in Chapel Hill, NC, and spent her life nurturing her family and passions.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Woodie C. Smith, their daughter Sarah Smith Drake (Jered), son Robert Clinton Smith (Kassandra), grandchildren Charlie (Charlotte) Smith, Abriella Smith, Anderson Drake, Kolton Smith, best friend of 60+ years Sallie (Sarah) Moore, and Teresa's beloved canine companion, Miles. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Rew Rush, Sr and Juanita Pruitt Rush.

Teresa was a passionate advocate for animal rescue and supported many organizations that helped animals in need. She loved growing fresh herbs and vegetables with Woodie in their garden, and traveling with friends to the Mountains in the fall.  Her nurturing spirit extended to all aspects of her life, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to her family and the causes she cared deeply about.

A private service will be held to honor her memory. Additional services will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to animal rescue organizations in Teresa's name, as a tribute to her love for animals. If you must send flowers, Teresa loved tulips and houseplants, such as Philodendron and Pothos. Alternatively, you can send medium sized Greenies to Miles at their home address.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
