Stephen Jay Newton, age 50, passed away Tuesday, October 07, 2014, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center of Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on April 28, 1964. He was formerly employed as a millwright for Daniels Construction Company. He is survived by his father, William D. Newton and wife, Carol, of Lumberton, his mother, Nancy Adcox Barefoot and husband, Arlen, of Lumberton, one son, William Newton, of Greenville, SC, one daughter, Stephanie Newton, also of Greenville, NC, a brother, William D. Newton, Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Sevierville, TN, and a sister, Theresa Newton Brooks and husband, Harry, of Bakersville, NC.
