Stephen Kelly Jernigan, age 63, Bladenboro, NC died on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.  He was born in Fort Meade, MD on June 9, 1953 to the late William Kelly Jernigan, and the late Annie Pearl Taylor Jernigan.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and then worked in construction for Ladd Architectural Company.

Mr. Jernigan is survived by his wife, Joye Strickland Jernigan of the home; a daughter Bridgett Jernigan of the home; sons Johnny Strickland of SC, and Anthony Mann of TN; brothers, William Kenneth "Billy" Jernigan of Red Springs, and Kenneth Wayne McDowell of Lumberton; sisters, Patricia Lynn Russell and Karen Ann Jernigan both of Lumberton, and Sandra Kay McDowell of McKeesport, PA; a grandchild, Dylan Kyle Jernigan; and step-grandchildren, Ethan Strickland, Jordan Strickland, and Devin Strickland.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Strickland and Rev. James Patrick Hodge officiating.  A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
