Mr. Stanford Godwin, age 87, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on June 21, 1928 to the late Bud and Hattie Bell Godwin.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Ann Godwin; one daughter, Gail Godwin; one son, Keith Dixon; and seven brothers.

Stanford is survived by his children: Christina Callahan and husband Christopher, Earl Godwin and wife Brittany, Robert Benson and wife Michelle, Phillip Godwin and wife Joy, Jacqueline Wakefield and husband Ken, Karl Dixon, Michael Dixon and wife Beverly, and Chad Godwin and wife Rebecca; 28 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Davie Locklear. Burial will follow at Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery.
