Obituary

Stacy Ambrose Davis died Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Lumberton Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Center. He was born May 3, 1931 to the late Ambrose and Florence Davis.

In addition to his parents, Stacy was also preceded in death by four sisters: his twin, Natalie Leggett of Mount Airy, Theda Davis and Wilma Rozier, both of Lumberton, and Elizabeth Kinlaw of Shallotte; one brother, Dr. E. Dale Davis of Richardson, TX; and one sister-in-law, Juanita Collins of Dothan, AL.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 64 years, Gracie Hardin Davis, and the son and daughter whom they loved as their own, Billy and Susan Davis; one sister, Nella Weaver of Raleigh; one brother, Dr. Bruce R. Davis of Ramona, CA; a sister-in-law, Ida Freeman Hardin of Lumberton; and Helen King, a vital part of the family for 40 years.

Stacy enjoyed traveling (especially with First Baptist Church members), fishing, hunting, and gardening. After retiring with more than 30 years as a salesman for Pait's Wholesale Hardware and Farm Supply Company, he became quite adept at repairing and refinishing guns, spending endless hours making sure the owner was satisfied with the finished product.

As a faithful member of First Baptist Church for nearly 70 years, Stacy enjoyed working with Royal Ambassadors, being chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, serving as a deacon, attending the Rupert Collins Sunday School Class, and singing in the adult choir for 40 years.

Gracie wishes to express her gratitude for those who have been so faithful through nearly 15 years of Stacy's bout with dementia: Lloyd and Peggy Mercer, George and Betty Lawson, H.J. and Sylvia Edwards, Bucky Benson, Drew Mills, Dan Floyd, members of the Rupert Collins Sunday School Class, Billy and Susan Davis, and the Helen King Family.

A time of visitation will take place prior to the service on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 1:30-2:30 PM in the Cherry Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.

Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM in the church sanctuary.
