Obituary

Sho'Equana " Quana " Marchantia Bethea-Manley, little light, began to shine on May 28, 1987 until the Angel of God escorted her home on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Her smile radiated every room or place she entered, especially when she heard her favorite song, "This Little Light of Mine", and you could feel the love and joy with every sound she made. Quana couldn't say many words, walk, nor  care for herself, but the testimony of her life was powerful and delivered a message of inspiration and the awesome power of God. Quana was a blessing to everyone that ever came in contact with her and she made a difference in their lives young and old. The doctors only gave Quana two years to live; yet, God blessed her to see two years plus 33 more. Her life displayed the true example of God's awesomeness and mighty power.

Quana gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at an early age and was a part of many congregations/groups. At the age of two, she was blessed to be a part of the United Cerebral Palsy Center in Greenville, NC. We thank God for those teachers and therapists who touched her life and helped to look at what Quana CAN do. She was also a part of Phillipi Church of Christ Disciples of Christ (Pastor Royal), United Church of Deliverance (Pastor Dupree), Solid Rock Church of Christ Disciples of Christ (Pastor Wilder), all in Greenville, NC, and Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church (Pastor Smith) in Fairmont, NC. In 2001, the family moved to Woodbridge, VA and she became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church (Pastor Lundy), Piney Branch Baptist Church (Pastor Micheal), and her current church, New Union Baptist Church (Pastor Sampson).

Quana was a member of various church ministries; choirs, missionaries (visiting nursing homes and hospitals), and youth groups. She faithfully attended Bible studies, Sunday school, and regular worship services. Her favorite part of service was offering time.

In 2009, Quana graduated from Forest Park High School. After graduation from high school, she attended St. Coletta of Greater Washington, an adult day program.

She leaves cherish her memory the best Dad a little girl could have, Sherman L. Manley, Sr., and her loving mother, Stephanie Manley; two wonderful siblings, Sherman L. Manley, Jr. and Samantha R. Manley, both who truly loved her; her grandmother, Emma McKellar of Lumberton, NC; six aunts: Sharon Walker (Leon) of Suffolk, VA, Carol Carson of Fairmont, NC, Sallie Marie McKellar of Chattanooga, TN, and Bessie Manley, Vanessa Manley, and Yvonne Manley, all of Hammond, IN; five uncles: Robert Bethea (Tonya) of Fayetteville, NC, Michael Bethea (Estella) of San Diego, CA, Mark Bethea (Susan) of Mint Hill, NC, Kenneth Thompson (Connie) of Wingate, NC, and Paul Manley (Wadene) of East Chicago, IN; her three special cousins/sisters, the get-along gang: Roschellee Walker, Brendette Walker, and Shannon Walker-White; her god-parents, Cynthia McAllister Pernell and Eddie & Tracy Sampson; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Quana's passing has brought an overwhelming sorrow to so many, near and far. We will all miss her laughter that filled a room with joy and her smile that brightened your day. We know that this is God's will and He loves her best.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 301 N. Main Street in Fairmont, NC.
