Shirley Lawson McCray, born on February 23, 1935 in Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024 in her home. She was 89 years old. She was the daughter of the late Junious and Eula Mae Taylor.

Shirley is survived by her daughters; Kathy Lawson of Lumberton, NC; Beth McClure of Murphy, NC; Debbie Howell (Richard) of Waxhaw, NC; and Lisa Geesaman of Hendersonville, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lemuel Lawson; her husband, Ron McCray; and her daughter, Sheila Covington.

Shirley was grandmother to 8 grandchildren; Curt McClure (Cori) of Candler, NC; Tamara Dills (Jake) of Franklin, NC; Brandon Hatcher (Sara) of Rahway, NJ; Kyle Covington (Nicole) of Lumberton, NC; Chad Covington of Lumberton, NC; Krista Sartin (Landon) of Old Hickory, TN; Jared Geesaman (Ioanna) of Honolulu, HI; and Jessica Manuel (Parker) of Boulder, CO. She was also great-grandmother to 18 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her faith was unwavering. She loved the Lord and her dedication to Him was evident to those around her. She will be deeply missed.

A graveside service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Rd, Lumberton, NC on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM for her family and friends.
