Shirley Williamson Wilkins Martin, age 83 of Lumberton passed away on Friday, January 24th in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was born in Lumberton on August 1, 1941 to Gladys Hersey Williamson Thompson and Bowman Williamson.

Shirley lived a beautiful life of giving and service to others. Her spirit, hands, and feet were sources of joy and fellowship for so many. Her greatest joy was the joy of others.

Her work ethic was unmatched through years of carpools to third shifts in Raeford and decades of cycle counts and inventory control at Acme Electric. Shirley had only two full-time jobs over more than 40 years of work and moonlighted as a Home Interior Agent. You could depend on Shirley to get any task done, and if that task involved fashion, style, or interior design, the job would be done with a flair that was tailored to you.

Shirley always focused on the success of her family.  "MeeMaw Gave It!"  was the most common explanation from her young grandchildren.

Her festive greetings in artful Christmas sweaters and her preparations to welcome us with southern hospitality made us feel so good, so many times. We will all miss her celebrations of family and friends.

Shirley was preceded by her dear sister, Doris Wilkins and her beloved husband, Bobby Martin.

Shirley's heart was stitched in acts of Love for her daughter Sheila Wilkins Boone (Stephen); two granddaughters she molded and taught, Graceanne Wilkins Boone of Nashville Tennessee and Caroline Wilkins Boone of NC State; and by two very special nieces, Carol Wilkins Musselwhite (Randy) and Carla Wilkins Kinlaw (Dennis) whom she thought of as her own.

A celebration of life will be held for Shirley at the Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11AM. The family will receive condolences immediately after the celebration of Shirley's life.
