Sherrill Wayne Hardee, age 86, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Cumberland County, NC on November 16, 1938 to the late Earl Wayne & Starie Mae Hardee.

Sherill was not a flashy person; he was a simple country man. He loved to watch NASCAR racing as well as take many trips to watch various races in person, which usually doubled as camping trips and he would often fit old vehicles into campers. He also enjoyed farming, planting, and growing many vegetables and tending to his farm animals.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hardee, and two sisters, Golda Mae Page and Janice Jernigan.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Ennis Hardee of the home; his sons: Keith Hardee (Wanda) of Dunn, NC, Dewitt Hardee (Sandra) of Hoover, AL, and Terry Hardee (Angela) of Lumberton, NC; his daughters, Sherry Boyd (Michael) of Lumberton, NC and Vicky Jackson (Billy) of Meadow, NC; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Tart of Fayetteville, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Darrin Moore officiating.
