Ms. Shelia G. Thorndyke, age 73, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. She was born in Robeson County, NC on April 1, 1947 to the late Joseph Foreman Thorndyke and the late Vivian Lamb Thorndyke. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Canteen Vending Co.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: J.F. Thorndyke, Ed Thorndyke, John Knox Thorndyke, and George Wade Thorndyke; three sisters: Madeline T. Young, Sybil T. Hedgepeth, and Eugenia Thorndyke; and a nephew, Hal Byrd.

She is survived by a brother, Luke M. Thorndyke of Proctorville, NC; three sisters, Veila T. Nye of Fayetteville, NC, and Kellen T. Byrd of LaGrange, NC, and Elizabeth T. Nye of Lumberton, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Long Branch Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Sandy Saunders officiating.
