Mrs. Shelby Taylor Smith, 85, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at home. She was born in Robeson County, NC on June 12, 1936 to the late Homer Frank Taylor and the late Thelma Baxley Taylor. She worked for many years until retirement at Converse Shoe Co.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Daniel Smith; a son, Cecil Daniel Smith, Jr.; a brother, Homer Frank Taylor, Jr.; a sister, Margaret Singletary Townsend; and a son-in-law, Dallas Harding.

She is survived by her children: Gayle Sessoms and husband Ralph of Lumberton, NC, Cindy Nance and special friend Alan Bryan of Elizabethtown, NC, Sherry Harding of Lumberton, NC, and Michael Salmon and wife Kim of Elizabethtown, NC; seven grandchildren: Kassidy Jones, Karrye Chadwick, Joseph Daniel Nance, Brandy Locklear, Heather Jenkins, Marrisa Britt, and James Dallas Harding II; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Russ of Chicago, IL; and three brothers: Jackie Taylor, Ertle Taylor, and Johnny Taylor, all of Lumberton, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5 ^th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Belch Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Pastor Blake Dodd and Pastor Mark Meadows officiating.
