Ms. Sharon Mary Burns, age 57, of Lumberton, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on December 31, 1955 to the late James Lester Burns, Sr. and the late Nellie Mae Burns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Fletcher. She leaves to cherish her memories with her children, Theresa Burns of Lumberton, NC and Antoine Burns of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Dasani Leggette and Richard L. Lytch (Jr.); her siblings, Retha Fletcher of Lumberton, NC, Walter Willis of Jacksonville FL, Rose Deberry of Evans, GA, Peggy (Jay) Brown of Hope Mills, NC, Laura (John) Tyler of Stafford, VA, Frances Burns of Amherst, MA; Jeffrey Burns, Michael Burns, James Burns Jr., Jackie Burns and Jerome Burns, all of Lumberton; her uncles, Darius (Jeanette) McCallum and Isaac McCallum of Hasty, NC; her aunts, Barbara Burns-Broyles of Lumberton, NC and Cleo Burns of Raleigh, NC; her nieces and nephews, Gaston Fletcher, Ebony Corley, Joyce Cook, Tiffany Deberry & Eric Burns; her special nieces and nephews, Kyndra (Reggie) Scott, Jay Brown Jr., Jasmine Brown, Chandra Parker and Jada Parker; her life-long friend, Alice (Lois) Pope of Charlotte NC and a host of other relatives and friends. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 6:00-8:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton. A funeral mass service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2000 Elizabethtown Road, Lumberton, NC 28358 with Rev. John L. Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton. Immediately following the burial, a repast will be held at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, 403 Elizabethtown Road, Lumberton, NC 28358.
