After growing up in Rosewood, Sarah graduated from Campbell College and moved to Lumberton, NC, where she met and married E. W. Caine. It was here that they raised their three daughters, until their move to Rocky Mount, NC after many years. She worked as secretary, bookkeeper, and office manager for the James E. Johnson Companies. She was a member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. Following E.W.'s death, she moved to Cary, NC, where she worked for several years as the secretary of First United Methodist Church in Cary.
Sarah loved family, friends, books, flowers, and endeared herself to friends and family with her avid appreciation for the lost art of letter writing and card sending. She always demonstrated a passion for detail and numbers with a meticulous accuracy in balancing accounts. Sarah can rest peacefully now. Her account has been balanced through her faith in Jesus Christ.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Terri and Dan for their selfless love and care during the years of her declining health, to caregiver Heather Townsend, and to Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington.
