Sammy David Young, 69, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at his home. He was born August 26, 1947 in DeKalb County, AL. He served honorably in the US Army and was later employed as a driver for Poole Truck Lines.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ollie Young.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Roberts of Tifton, GA; his wife, Kathie Shepherd Young of the home; one son, Jason Young and wife Shannon of Arlington, TX; two daughters: Penny Hagens and husband Andy of St. Pauls and Samantha Holloman and husband Ricky of the home; one sister, Carolyn Sutton of Tifton, GA; eight grandchildren: Drew, Elizabeth, Hannah, Ricky, Emily, Corey, Maggie, and Abbey Gail; and four great-grandchildren: Majestie, Marlie, Quentin, and Mia.

A time of visitation will take place on Friday, December 16, 2016, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Eastwood Holiness Church with Rev. Mark Simmons officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choosing.
