Sammie Lee Baker, Jr., age 51, of Lumberton, NC died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Sumter County, GA on October 1, 1958 to Sammie Lee Baker, Sr. and Bessie Long Baker. He was a United States Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Long Baker.

Mr. Baker is survived by his father, Sammie Lee Baker, Sr.; his wife, Tina Jones Baker of the home; two sons, Uriah Ahmed Baker of El Paso, TX and Isaiah Zachariah Baker of Lumberton, NC; one daughter, Sarai Mari Baker of the home; two brothers, Russell Baker of Cocoa Beach, FL and Lawrence Baker of Lumberton, NC; six sisters, Barbara McKinney of Cocoa Beach, FL, Sandra Simon of Port St. John, FL, Debra Harvey of Cocoa Beach, FL, Cynthia Brown of Rockledge, FL, Karen Washington of FL and Lori Baker of Cocoa Beach, FL; one half-sister, Millie Poyer of Philadelphia, PA; and one step-sister, Crystal Broxton of Raleigh, NC.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 9:45 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Harrison Branch officiating. Burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM.
