Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Peterson, 75, of Raeford, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020.

Ruth will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.  She is survived by her daughters, Kerstin and Suzy; her sons-in-law, Mat and Mike; her grandchildren, Rylan, Quinn, Ethan, Jessica, and Leigh; her sisters, Nony, Mary, Debbie, and Lois; and many beloved nieces, nephew, and cousins.

Ruth was married to Phil Peterson in 1963, and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until Phil's passing in 2014.  For over 30 years, Ruth worked as a nurse and primarily cared for premature babies.  After retirement, she moved to North Carolina and spent several years quilting, reading, golfing, birdwatching, beating everyone at the games Scrabble, Phase 10, and Penta, traveling across the state, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Ruth will be missed by her family and by her dear friends and neighbors in the Raeford area.  She will also be missed by her quilting group the Tar Heel Quilters' Guild and by everyone who was lucky enough to receive one of her handmade quilts over the years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 3:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton.
