Ruth Elizabeth Ivey Britt, age 81, of Lumberton, NC died on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Linkhaw Place in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on August 10, 1928 to Rock O. Ivey and Katherine Cribbs Ivey. She was a retired beautician at the Ivey Ruth Beauty Shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Lacy Havan Britt; and one brother, Wilbert G. Ivey.

Mrs. Britt is survived by two sons, Kenneth R. Britt and wife, Marie of Lumbeton, NC and Terry L. Britt and wife, Lynnette of Jacksonville, NC; three daughters, Kathy B. Moore and husband, Joe of Lumberton, NC, Deborah B. Freeman and husband, Danny Mack of Lumberton, NC and Donna B. Parker and husband, Keith of Orrum, NC; two brothers, Rock E. Ivey of Orrum, NC and O.W. Ivey of Lumberton, NC; two sisters, Jean Lawson-Johnson of Proctorville, NC and Carol Currin of Lumberton, NC; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Godwin Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Holloway officiating. Visitation will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Research.
