Mrs. Ruth Scott Courtney, 94, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Elizabethtown Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabethtown, NC. She was born in Rockwood, TN on April 24, 1928, to the late Fletcher Foster Scott and the late Emma Woodall Scott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Abner Byron Courtney; and two sons, Curtis Byron Courtney and Philip Leigh Courtney.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Courtney (Mary) of Lumberton, NC, and her grandchildren, Adam Courtney (Tabitha) of Hope Mills, NC and Danielle Courtney of Smyrna, TN.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton, NC.
