Ruth Fowler Barnes, age 83, of Lumberton, entered her eternal home on Thursday, November 2, 2017. She passed away peacefully at Southeastern Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger, and her parents, Poe Dexter Fowler and Olif Caroline Todd Fowler.

A lifelong resident of Lumberton, Ruth was a dedicated manager at Lumberton Children's Clinic for 42 years. She was a positive and encouraging presence to her coworkers, patients, and their families. Ruth was an active member of North Lumberton Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served in other capacities. Above all, Ruth loved her family and truly cherished spending time with them.

She is survived by her son, Roger Phillip Barnes and fiancée, Erline Locklear, of Lumberton; her daughter, Alyson Ruth Barnes Faulconer and husband, Michie, of Greenville, NC; and four grandchildren: Andrew Barnes, Madison Faulconer, Cameron Faulconer, and Melissa Hildreth.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 2:00 PM at North Lumberton Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Astle officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
