Russell Howard Johnson, age 77, of Lumberton, NC departed this life on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Andover, MA on October 11, 1934 to the late Howard Johnson and the late Alice Poor Johnson. He graduated from Northeastern University with a Chemical Engineering Degree. He formerly worked for Converse as plant superintendent.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Lorena Leggett Johnson of the home; two sons, Walter Johnson and wife Patty of Adamstown, MD and Karl Johnson of Orono, ME; a daughter, Dr. Cheryl Davis and husband Thad of Shannon; four sisters-in-law, Carol Freeman of Fairmont, Diane Brock of Moorehead City, Nellie Roulea of Wilmington and Sara Britt of Fairmont; and four grandchildren, Evan, Alyssa, Addison and Aydan.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Godwin Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
