Mr. Olan Rudolph "Rudy" Freeman, Jr., 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. He was born in Dillon, SC on July 26, 1947, but resided in Lumberton, NC for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Olan Freeman, Sr., and his mother, Alberta Ludlum Freeman, both of Rockingham, NC.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn Ivey Freeman; two daughters whom he adored, Crystal Freeman Smith (Tim) of Hamlet, NC and Latricia Freeman (Jennifer) of Lumberton, NC; three grandchildren whom he was so very proud of: TJ Smith (Amanda), Katie Smith Simmons (Jacob), and Brian Smith (Stephanie); three great-grandchildren who will miss their "Papa Ru" dearly: Liam, Millie, and Ameila; and two fur grandbabies, Henry and Reesie. He also leaves behind his four siblings: Jackie Parnell (Tommy), Patsy Taylor (J.W.), Lynette Freeman (Lorenzo), and Glenn Freeman (Mary), and a host of extended family and friends, especially the Gutierrez Family: Ramon, Maria, Ana, Shaeyla, Daniel, and Ismael.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 11:00AM - 12:00 PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church, 501 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor Mike Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
