Mr. Ruben Kirk Parnell, age 90, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015, at NC State Veterans Home in Fayetteville. He was born in Cumberland County on August 17, 1925 to the late Ervin King Parnell and Sarah Caroline Wilson Parnell. He served honorably in the US Army, stationed in the Philippine Islands as a medic during WWII. He was a fifty-year member of North Lumberton Baptist Church and faithfully served as a deacon.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Jacobs Parnell.

He is survived by his son, Alan Kirk Parnell and wife Teresa of Lumberton; his daughter, Marilyn Parnell Lindsay and husband Frankie of Lumberton; one sister, Virginia Davis of Lumberton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Britt of Lumberton; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Meadows and Dr. Allen Admire officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
