Rossie "Buddy" Cox, Jr., 93, of Lumberton, died on Saturday, December 20 at Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Rossie Cox, Sr.; his four brothers: Henry Cox, Lacy Cox, Grady Cox, and James "Sonny Boy" Cox; and his four sisters: Ruth Rozier, Thetus Grace Flowers Sides, Katie Lou Hucks Shepherd, and Alma Jewel Durden.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Cox, of the home; his son, Chris Cox (Jeanine) of Lumberton; his grandson, Kevin Dwayne Cox (Jessica) of Lumberton; his great-grandchildren: Logan, E.J., KK, Brandy, and Hailey; and his great-great-grandson, Hartlen.

Buddy will always be remembered as someone who loved being outdoors, as well as hunting and fishing. He also loved old cars, and especially he loved his Mustang and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

There will be graveside service held on Monday, December 22nd, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Baxley Family Cemetery, just off of Beulah Church Rd. in Lumberton.
