Rosa Helen Shaw's Obituary
Ms. Rosa Helen Shaw, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2021, at her home surrounded by friends and family, in Lumberton, NC. She was born February 9, 1947 in Bellingham, WA to the late Docia Ruth Peters.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Ella King; her biological mother, Docia Ruth King; and her husband, Douglas Macon Shaw.
She is survived by two daughters: Hope Freeman and Roseann Thompson, both of Lumberton, NC; three granddaughters: Madison Bullard of Pinehurst, NC, and Riley West and Hayden Tyndall, both of Lumberton, NC; a grandson: Jordan Tyndall of Lumberton, NC; one brother, Glenn Peters and wife Susie of Arizona; many nieces and nephews; and her oldest, dearest friend, Betty Lou Sheriff.
Rosa was a devoted hair dresser for 52 years. She truly loved her customers and the friendships that were created during her time as a hair stylist. Anyone who knew Rosa knew she was not afraid to speak her mind. You never had to wonder what she was thinking -- good or bad -- she would tell you. Rosa held her friends and family close to her heart and was very proud of each one of her daughters and grandchildren. A few things she enjoyed was eating oysters, slot machines, and Elvis Presley, but, most of all, reminiscing on the good times with those she loved the most. To know Rosa was to lover her. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC. The family will be accepting visitors at the graveside following the burial.
