Rony Esther Locklear Smith, 82, of 225 Samp Road, Pembroke, was born January 7th
1926 and departed this life on August 13th 2008 at Southeastern Regional Medical
Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnice Smith; her father and mother, Mr.
and Mrs. Durant Locklear; 4 brothers, William Locklear, Lero Locklear, Danny Locklear
and Durant Jr., Locklear; 2 sisters, Strawdie Chavis and Katie Burns.
She is survived by 2 sons, Burnice Smith, Jr. of Pembroke and Edmond Durant Smith
of Greenback, TN; 3 daughters, Cathy Lee Smith of the home, Mona Lisa Cummings of
Pembroke and Queen Esther Smith Locklear of Maxton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great
grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The funeral service will be Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Floyd Memorial Chapel at
3:00 p.m. with Rev. Eugene Chavis and Rev. Andrew Oxendine officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Floyd
Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
