Mr. Robert "Bob" Wadell Gaddy III, age 88, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Robeson County, NC on January 2, 1935, to the late Robert W. Gaddy, Jr. and the late Flora Ray Gaddy.

Bob was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years until retirement. He also served in the U.S. National Guard for 36 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant Major, which is the highest noncommissioned rank. He was a professional ring steward for 40 years and a founding member of Lumber River Basin Committee. Additionally, he spent his later years as a devoted employee of Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. for 30 years until his health declined and he was no longer able to assist.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Walters Gaddy; his daughter, Vicki Lynn Gaddy; and his stepdaughter, Marcia English.

He is survived by his son, Robert "Robby" Wadell Gaddy IV (Carol) of Lumberton, NC; his stepdaughter, Terri Collins (Kenny) of Orrum, NC; his grandchildren: Robert W. Gaddy V (Ana Maria), Kathrine Vann West (Patrick), Kendall Grayson Gaddy (Madison), Ashley Tomlinson, Matt Tomlinson (Amy), Christopher Fowler, Savanna Fowler, Tyler English, Ken Collins, and Maranda Page; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Norma Lewis of Goldsboro, NC and Marcia Aycock (Don) of Bailey, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 N. Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Joe Bounds and Pastor James Graham officiating.
