Robert Joseph
Miller
Oct 12, 1952 — Jun 13, 2018
Long-time Lumberton resident Robert Joseph Miller passed at age 65 on June 13, 2018. Bob was born in the US Naval Hospital, Bethesda Maryland, and spent his early years travelling as part of a Marine family. His favorite spot was Hawaii. Bob became a Lumberton resident after his father Thomas "TC" Miller retired from the Marines and established A1 Mobile Home Sales. After graduating Lumberton Senior High School in 1969, Bob went into business with his father at A1. He and TC helped many, many Lumberton residents purchase homes of their own. Bob transitioned A1 from sales to a parts and service establishment. There was no mobile home problem Bob couldn't fix. People came for miles to seek his advice and find the parts they needed. When not presiding in his office, assisted by his beloved cat, Tiger, Bob spent his time taking photos and enjoying the company of his many friends. Bob was the victim of a stroke in 2013. Despite his disability, Bob kept up his spirits and never complained. He provided an example of the value of all life. Bob joined Tiger and TC in heaven on June 13. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Smith Miller, and by sisters Carolyn Miller Cerco (Carl) and Julie Ann Miller. The family will receive friends at Floyd Mortuary on Wednesday June 27, from 10 to 11AM. A memorial service will follow immediately presided over by Joe Bounds. Burial will be at the family site in Spencer Massachusetts. On-line condolences may be made by visiting www.FloydMortuary.net . In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his name to the Robeson County Humane Society.
