Robert Duncan
Mclean
Dec 20, 1948 — Dec 20, 2023
Greenville
Robert Duncan McLean, a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on his 75th birthday at home surrounded by his family on December 20, 2023. Born in the serene town of Bladenboro, North Carolina, he was a cherished son of the late Duncan and Effie Taylor McLean. He was predeceased by a brother, Milton.
Robert met the love of his life, Ellen, in 1973 and began a beautiful journey together that spanned 50 incredible years. Their story was filled with laughter, joy, and unwavering support for one another.
As a husband, Robert was devoted and caring, always making sure that Ellen felt loved and cherished. He was a father who led by example, instilling in his sons, Bobby (Melanie) and David Erik McLean (Sandra) the values of kindness, hard work, and loyalty. He embraced the role of a doting grandpa to three adoring grandchildren, Niza, Sebastian and Mackenzie, creating treasured memories that will be cherished for generations.
Beyond his work, as a millwright, Robert had a few passions that brightened his life. He was a connoisseur of chocolate milkshakes, always seeking out the perfect blend of flavors. An avid sports fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on the North Carolina State Wolfpack Basketball Team and revel in their victories. With a love for automobiles, Robert proudly drove Fords and was so excited when Ford bought out Jaguar; so much so the family wondered if they would one day see a Jaguar in his driveway.
Robert proudly served in the United States Army, bravely defending his country. His service was a testament to his patriotism and his willingness to sacrifice for the greater good.
Robert will be dearly missed by his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His compassionate nature, warm smile, and loving heart touched the lives of many. Although he is no longer with us, his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 6:00-8:00PM at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.
