Mr. Robert Wayne Hedgpeth, Sr., age 83, of Lumberton, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on June 13, 1934 to the late Thaddeus Harold Hedgpeth and the late Cordelia Andrews Hedgpeth. He worked for many years as the Utilities Director with the City of Lumberton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Johnsie Thompson Hedgpeth; three brothers, Kenneth Hedgpeth, James Hedgpeth and Lynn Hedgpeth and a sister, Sara Hedgpeth Tolar.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his sons, Robert Wayne Hedgpeth, Jr. (Melinda) and Roger Wrenn Hedgpeth (Susan), all of Lumberton; a sister, Neta Rose Stephens of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Thaddeus "Thad" Hedgpeth (Talara) of Saratoga Springs, NY, Brooke Keit (Weston) of Winston Salem, NC, Jennifer Hedgpeth Sealey (Timothy) of Lumberton and Jessica Hedgpeth Kaukola (Trey) of Columbia, NC; great-grandchildren, Abigail Hedgpeth, Leila and Johnsie Parker Hedgpeth, Ryan Sealey, and Libby and Lucy Keit.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 2:00PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church with Pastor LeRoy Burke and Pastor Michael Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
