Robert Lee Hammonds Jr., 74, of Orrum, North Carolina, gained his heavenly wings on May 18, 2026, at UNC Health Southeastern.

Robert was a dedicated brick mason whose craftsmanship can be seen throughout the community in the many buildings, columns, and structures he helped create over the years. He took great pride in his work and the lasting impact it left behind. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed bowling, reading his Bible, and relaxing in his recliner surrounded by those he loved.

He leaves to cherish his memory his longtime companion, Judy Jacobs of the home; his beloved granddaughter, Jayla Gaddy (Brayden) of Pembroke, NC; his grandson Bryson Gaddy; his brother, Keith Oxendine (Charlene Bass) of Pembroke, NC; and his sisters, Jewel Chavis of Lumberton, NC, Cynthia Oxendine, Wanda Oxendine, Jeanette Brown, and Kim Oxendine, all of Baltimore, Maryland.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Flossie Lee Oxendine; his father, Robert Hammonds Sr.; his brothers, James Wilbert Oxendine, Ralph Oxendine, and Ronnie Oxendine; and his sisters, Connie Lowe and Margaret Knight.

The visitation will be held from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, NC.

The funeral will follow at 2:00PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.
